Tom and Barb Hulet have been involved with the Beefmaster breed of cattle for thirty years. They started the BarBT herd six years ago and are involved in the upgrade program with BBU. The Beefmaster breed is thick and deep bodied, do well in the desert, are good foragers, and are very intelligent animals. Tom and Barb follow the foundation's six essentials- disposition, fertility, weight, conformation, hardiness, and milk production.
Tom and Barb have also been raising Savanna Goats, another animal that does well on the desert. The Savanna goats are a hardy breed- parasite resistant, good milkers, generally have multiples at birth, and are a delectable meat. Tom and Barb's BT Savanna goat farm is involved in the Savanna's upgrade program and registrations are through Pedigree International.

Tom and Barb raise their cattle and goats with love- feeding bottles to babies that need more care, brushing cattle with a curry comb, and getting down on the same level with their calves. All the cattle big or small love to be scratched and combed. They will almost take a good scratch over a bunk of hay.
